Dornhugel Guest Farm

The Beyer family has been running the farm “Dornhügel“ since 1904. They started welcoming guests on their farm in 1994. Today, the farm raises various cattle breeds, Damara sheep and Basotho horses – a traditional horse breed from Lesotho.

The farm is home to a fascinating variety of wild game, which can be discovered on every farm ride with Max – the farmer.

Beside others, giraffes, zebras, kudus, eland antelopes and innumerable warthogs can be seen on Dornhügel. Enjoy a cool sundowner watching the wild game at the waterholes in the evening!

Accommodation

There are five spacious and individually arranged guestrooms that are furnished comfortably and radiate a friendly atmosphere. All rooms come with a large and high quality en-suite bathroom with shower and WC as well as make-up mirror and hair-dryer.

All guestrooms are appointed with ornamental furs of the N’Guni cattle, which give them a unique African style and let you feel the Namibian way of farm life.

A fridge with fully equipped mini-bar and a ceiling fan make sure that the heat is kept out of your room.

Dining

For breakfast you will relish e.g. fresh home-made bread and the fabulous smoked meat of the wild game on the farm.

For dinner, guests are served with meat from the farm as well. Did you ever have kudu or warthog? You will enjoy it with a range of casseroles and different vegetables. A good wine and a variety of beverages make every evening a memorable experience.

Depending on the weather, meals are served outside on the terrace or next to a cosy open fire.

Activities

A trip round the farm with Max in an open cross-country vehicle is one of the must-does on Dornhügel. On 11,000 hectares of farm land, guests get interesting insights in farm life and cattle and horse breeding.

On all trips, a lot of wild game can be seen. There are several lookout points from where many species of game can be observed. Why not have your sundowner at one of these?

In the garden, our guests can choose between the swimming pool, ping-pong, pool or darts. There are also a tennis court and some bikes.

We can also harness our donkeys for a cart ride which is amazing fun – not only for children! Those who wish to walk by themselves can do so on different hiking trails on the farm.

There is a library with a comprehensive selection of books, illustrated books and videos in German and English language on the history and nature of Namibia. Here we offer a small souvenir-shop as well.
